WELCOME e-MARGONAUTS :: New e-Marginalia Contestants
=============================================================
So what's with the absence? Did the newsletter take a trip or what?
The truth is, we have been working for the last six months on very
exciting content developments for you to get an even better read.
George and I have both been drowning in these and other intense
projects. We're glad to report that most of the hard work is now
over, so the newsletter is back. The first thing I'd like to share
with you is our upcoming Interview Column. I'm supposed to keep you
in suspense, so I won't tell you all the names. Here's a peek:
The first person to be featured will be Alberto Del Castillo, the
Patagonia expert and world-class mountaineer. Second is Randy Curwen,
the Travel Editor of The Chicago Tribune who will share with you
some insights on the business of travel writing. That's it! I can't
tell you more. But I promise you won't be disappointed. I can't wait
to share them with you.
Now if I may point you to the latest issue of e-Marginalia
contestants which are competing for most popular between August 1
and October 1, 2005:
In Transit by Scott Cantin (photos by Nana Chen)
Haida Tales by James Dorsey
Joshua Tree National Park by Beth Huetter
Sexy, Summertime London by Elle Kwan
The Irish Road Less Traveled by Bree Marsden
The Japanese Nozawa Fire Festival by Joyce Matzke
Amsterdam: Like Day and Night by Monica Pocelujko
A Wedding Under African Skies by Genevieve Richards
Magical Moments in Morocco by Angel Williams
Take a look and click away (links below) at your favorite story.
Pass them to friends! Get their hearts to wander through stylish
streets of London in Elle Kwan's "Sexy, Summertime London". Or see
what happens after Marsden's mother directs her to drive straight
into the ocean in "The Irish Road Less Traveled". Another newcomer,
Joyce Matzke, a trained anthropologist gives us a most detailed view
of "The Japanese Nozawa Fire Festival". Also to read are tales from
our veteran contributors', Genevieve Richards and James Dorsey, both
known for their sharp eyes through words. A warm welcome also to new
contributors Beth Huetter, Monica Pocelujko and Angel Williams for
giving us the opportunity to showcase their work.
All this traveling vicariously can get to me as I sit here listening
to the sounds of Taipei and feeling the stubborn heat at 33C. Let's
take advantage of our Travel Resources box at the top left of most
web pages. The Destination Guides we've got up helps you search for
just about any location you can think of. Have a look at the deals
we've got on right now. Going to Europe is currently cheaper than a
pair of Prada shoes! There's also a Central America Super Sale going
on. If you'd rather not go overseas, New York is always a great
destination. Have fun searching for the lowest-priced tickets via
our Flights page:
http://www.e-margaux.com/en/links/trans/air/index.htm
With so many destinations and offers, I'm having trouble deciding
where to go next. Hmm... perhaps I'll join my friend who's on the
Peace Corps in Tanzania once he's settled.
If you do take a trip before me, don't forget to get nice pictures.
Click away and show me some colors, baby! We've got the e-Marginalia
Photo Contest for you to do just that. Or share your adventures with
me in a story with some well-shot pictures. Just submit them through
our website. I'm looking forward to reading them as we are preparing
to start the editing process of the next issue. So hurry!
Before I leave you to the above, let me point to the news of
Hurricane Katrina. The entire e-Margaux.com team mourns the tragedy,
and, we encourage our readers to contribute towards the relief
efforts in the coming months. Here are some of the organizations you
may wish to make a contribution.
American Red Cross
RedCross.org
The Salvation Army
SalvationArmyUSA.org
As always, we wish you well in all your adventures and travels.
Thank you for playing an important part in our e-Marginalia project.
Until next time, I wish you well. Bon voyage.
Warm regards,
Nana Chen, e-Marginalia Travel Editor
